Song Art Cover Project
Music and art often go hand in hand and I’ve often find myself inspired to do artwork based on songs I hear. For this project, I listened to songs that inspire me enough to create digital art for.
Instead of trying to create various styles for each song, I decided on a triptych for a set of musical style.
Stained Glass
For the first set, I created a stained glass effect to Jewel’s songs. A lot of her songs dealt with heartache and reflection of past reflection. This worked really well with the concept of seeing life through a colored glass.
Shapes and Forms
The second set of work was for more upbeat music. I played with movement with shapes and forms.
Monotone
The third set is love ballads. This set is inspired by my love of monotone colors. Two of the three pieces are actually inspired by Camille Claudel’s sculpture.
Black and Red
The fourth set is Italian songs by Mina. I was really inspired by 70s Italian album, using Italian fonts and silhouettes of sensual women.
Cambodian Music
The fifth set is Cambodian songs. I paid homage to love ballads from the 60s but paid attention to the “space” theme interwoven with color blocks.
Universe
The sixth and last set is alternative love ballads which I worked around the universe theme. I created all this set in Procreate app.
